Mayor's Office

mayorOn behalf of myself and the entire city council, I’d like to welcome you to the City of Waterloo and thank you for visiting our website. Our beautiful city was first established as a Village in 1859 and became a city in 1962. We are nestled in the NW corner of Jefferson County, bordering both Dane and Dodge Counties. The winding Maunesha River flows through the heart of our city with connectivity to surrounding communities. We enjoy a small-town atmosphere while being conveniently situated within short driving distances of several metropolitan areas.

Whether you're just visiting, here for business, looking for a new home, or have lived here for years, we welcome you and hope you find your time in our community a pleasant one! We encourage you to use our website and calendar to assist you in finding information about our city, its citizens, and events. You can even sign up to stay informed about our community with our online feature.

We are extremely proud of our rich heritage and community service, with a long history of some of the finest first responders and public safety personnel. Our various civic groups, churches, and organizations, are helpful and always welcoming. We have both public and private schools, a state-of-the-art Library, and a plethora of businesses that call Waterloo home. We are fortunate to have large homegrown, world class companies, to small mom and pop’s and everything in between. And we are very excited about the new additions to our public high school! We are staffed with some of the best teachers and administrators in the state and are proud of our academic and sports achievements that keep us competitive and moving forward. I encourage you to visit the community tab on our website and see for yourself what we have to offer!

We are also very proud of our TIF redevelopment districts and are working hard to bring even more opportunities to our community. These new areas will complement our historical areas, such as, our famous Fireman's Park from 1905 with a National registered 1910 wooden Carousel that is still running strong! Our park is the jewel of the community from the early settlers and a must see for anyone visiting our city. You are sure to catch a game, play some disc golf, take in one of our summer concert series, or take a stroll along one of our well maintained pedestrian  paths - which we are working on adding even more for better connectivity within our city. And when the snow flies, well our parks have you covered there too!

Waterloo has something for everyone, too numerous to list them all. Please stop by city hall for a visit. Our employees and public officials would consider it an honor to serve you!

Sincerely,
Jenifer Quimby
