Parks
Garman Nature Preserve There are many excellent parks in the Waterloo area.


The Dr. J.S. Garman Nature Preserve is a county park located on Fox Lane. Amenities include a large wooded area and 26 effigy mounds. Future nature trails are planned.


Hickory Park is located at Birch Street and Hickory Lane. It is a large, open field.


Knowlton Field is located at Knowlton Street and McKay Way. It has a soccer field.


Morrison Field is located on Minnetonka Way. It has a large, open field.


Veterans Memorial Park is on the northeast corner of Madison and Monroe Streets. There is a bandstand there. The Waterloo City Band gives several summer concerts at the Bandstand.


Youker Park is located at Mill Street. It is a prairie area with a bike path and a bridge connecting to Firemen's Park and the Youth Center.

Firemen's Park


Firemen's Park is located east of North Monroe Street and north of Boorman Street. The Park is accessible from the west via Dickenson Street and from the south via Hendricks Street.

Amenities at the Park include: 1911 C.W. Parker Carousel (which is currently under construction), baseball and softball diamonds, field for soccer and football, nine-hole disc golf course, concession stands, playground equipment, pavilions and an asphalt path.

Events such as Memorial Day, the Fourth of July celebration and fireworks and the Chamber of Commerce Easter Egg Hunt (Saturday before Easter) are held in the Park.
