| | Garman Knowlton Trailhead Facility NEWS
This exciting project is planned for Knowlton Field 2011-2014.
|
Knowlton Field has been heavily used by year round by Waterloo residents, Trek employees and visitors for many years. Sadly, the only amenity has been a portable toilet during summer months. Waterloo citizens wanted better facilities and asked local government to do something. After a couple of years and a couple of attempts, the Garman/Knowlton Trailhead facility was born. This facility will serve as a trailhead and interpretive center for the Glacial Heritage Area. It will attract tourists. It will serve as a picnic area and comfort station for bicyclists and park users. It will promote local businesses. Well over half of the funds for this project have already been raised. It is funded by a DNR Stewardship grant, Jefferson County, and TIF dollars from the City of Waterloo. The remaining costs will be met by local and regional fundraising efforts. |
